Hello everybody! I sure hope your holidays were happy, because now they’re over and so is 2008! For a lot of us, that’s a good thing and we can only hope that 2009 is a heck of a lot better for everybody. I’ve got my paws crossed for a very good new year for all of us.
Although, I must say it isn’t starting out all that well in my house, everybody’s sick! I think they call it the flu. I sure hope you’re feeling better than all the human’s here, because they feel like crap and when they feel like crap, I don’t get as much attention and when I’m lacking attention, I feel like crap, too! It’s a vicious cycle that needs to end.
I’m sure you’ve noticed with your own dogs that a certain amount of attention is required on a daily basis in order to keep your dog happy, well it’s the same with me and my sister, Kendall. Our humans are sick and for some dumb reason, that means we get less treats and a much shorter walk. Why is it always the dogs that suffer? Think about this; how much energy does it take for a sick human to get up off the couch, walk across the room to the “Treat Cabinet”, grab a bag of treats and toss some to the dogs? Not much at all! Yet, it’s always the dog that ends up sitting right in front of their sick parent, begging for a morsel and hoping for a few.
Forget about getting petted. Apparently that takes more energy than walking to get treats. When mom feels good all I have to do to walk up against the chair she sits in and I automatically get petted and it feels GREAT! However, when she’s sick, all I get is told to go lay down! Why doesn’t she love me when she’s sick? I still love her when I’m sick and I would never tell her to go lay down, I might think about it, but I would never say the words. Yeah, yeah, I know, I can’t talk but I do have other ways of getting my point across to the humans in my family and I’ll bet your dogs have ways of making you do what they want you to do, too! After all, we are dogs and it’s our job to communicate to you what we want you to do, just as it’s your job to let us know what you want us to do. When that happens, every one’s happy.
You know what would make all of us (yes, even canines) happier…, a cold pill that is an actual cure! Humans take several pills a day for each day they’re sick and they don’t seem to get any better, any faster. What about all the Kleenex human’s use just to empty snot from their noses only to have it return in a few minutes time, or sooner. Think of all the trees that could be saved if medical scientists could only come up with a pill that would actually cure the common cold. You might be wondering how this would make dogs happier…, well, let me tell you.
If all human’s had to do to get better was to take one pill, then they’d feel better right away and the canines of the world would get a lot more love and attention. Now, I don’t know about your dog, but when I’m a happy dog, all’s right with the world. Okay, maybe that sounds ridiculous, maybe I should just say “all’s right in my own little world”.
So, to any of you that are feeling under the weather, I wish a speedy recovery. After all, the faster you’re feeling better, the faster your own dog will get his/her daily quota of love and attention that they definitely deserve and require.
Until next week my friends, stay healthy!
WOOF…, WOOF!!!
There's many more animals being forced to suffer due to life-changing events such as, Hurricane Katrina. Now there's all the flooded counties in the Midwest and fires across the nation. Unfortunately, many animals end up abandoned after these types of catastrophic events. People need help but, animals do too!
Please help these animals. They can't do it themselves.
I am very lucky to have the parent's I do, other animals have no luck at all. Never forget all the abused, abandoned and neglected animals who weren't as lucky as myself and your canine kids.
